I’m running for school board because I believe our community deserves a voice that will fight for fiscal responsibility, transparent leadership, and quality education — without placing an unfair burden on local families.
This year, Lucas County property owners saw steep increases in tax assessments, and like many of you, my family felt the impact in our home. It seems at every turn families are being asked to pay more, often without a clear explanation of where those dollars are going or how they directly improve our quality of life.
At the same time, the State of Ohio continues to underfund public education — forcing districts like ours to rely more heavily on local taxes just to maintain basic services. I believe it's incumbent on the school board to be aggressively proactive to provide greater transparency in how every dollar is spent, and to better communicate the “why” behind funding requests in a way that connects with everyday taxpayers while exploring every possible revenue stream to make funding our children's primary education as un-intrusive as possible. Educating our children is at the top of all our lists as parents and citizens, however, we all have bills to pay and lives to live. It is my plan work with my colleagues on the board and the district administration to provide the "why" and pull the curtain back on the amazing work and collaboration that takes place in our schools every day!
As a firefighter, a father, and a nearly lifelong resident of this district, I know what it means to serve with integrity and accountability. I want to bring that same mindset to our school board ensuring we spend wisely while still putting our students and teachers first.
